A Little Pearl of Wisdom….

Sometimes when we decorate or attempt a project without help it can seem really daunting and I am sure at some point you may get yourself rather confused and stressed trying to make your look stylish and cohesive.

But there is a trick to it all that can make the whole process seem a lot easier and get you over the finished line much quicker.

Start with one amazing inspiration piece that you love and the rest will follow.

Take this beautiful cushion that I have fallen in love with … and yes for those of you who are very observant this is one of the beautiful new cushions that are now in position at home on my own lounge.

But what is so perfect about this cushion is the range of colours and tones it has within it. Think of it as your muse and you could easily select paint colours for walls, flooring and rugs from it as well as upholstery fabric and colour. By picking neutral shades and solid colours for large pieces such as a lounge or sofa gives you flexibility in the future to change your look just by adding new cushions and a rug.

This cushion in question also allows you to add black as an elegant accent colour by having black framed family photos like below within the room to showcase your family and your own individual personality in a very classy way.

And the fact that this cushion also has a metallic sheen to it will add a touch of glamour and bling to the space and easily allow you to incorporate high shine surfaces to your look.

But this is what I love to do more than anything and I can think of no more enjoyable task than helping somebody create a look for their own home.

An Exciting Visit

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of heading off to Wolgan Valley Resort near Lithgow because I needed to review the Resort for an upcoming issue of Home Ideas.

Thank goodness John was kind enough to come along with me and to help me firsthand experience what this Six Star Resort had to offer. With rooms starting at $2000 per night this resort is pure luxury.

Each room has its own private swimming pool, beautiful double sided fireplace, four poster bed and a mini bar that is complimentary. The meals were absolutely amazing and we absolutely lost ourselves in the beauty that was the natural surroundings of the Wolgan Valley.

Here are a couple of piccies from our time there and yes that is me on a pushbike. And yes to ride the pushbike I put on joggers!! But it was so worth it!

But now I am back in the real world and back at work busily fluffing up a storm.

Elvis is in the Building…

The Elvis Festival is just about to hit Parkes once again. This annual outpouring of love is held in Parkes each January and has become a huge event celebrating The King’s life and his sensational music. Everyone young or old dresses in jumpsuits reminiscent of the King and parades around the town and there is dancing in the streets all weekend long!

Our town swells to double its size during the event and the atmosphere is amazing! Last year I was even lucky enough to be a guest judge for one of the biggest events on the program, The Miss Priscilla Competition. This lucky Priscilla lookalike reigns over the entire weekend as well as winning a bevy of prizes.

But so you all don’t miss out here are some Elvis goodies that will have you in the mood even in your own homes!! Check out the online store to see all the goodies now available.

And as the King would say ” Thank you very much…….”

A few years ago we had the pleasure of home hosting the American Ambassador, Mr Jeffrey Bleich which was extremely exciting and an immense privilige. Mr Bleich is a true Elvis Fan and enjoyed the whole spectacle immensely. Here is a photo of the Ambassador and my husband and I when we returned the favour and had a chance to visit the American Embassy in Canberra this year.

My own little Christmas haven is complete…

When I decorate my own home at Christmas I tend to focus on one big WOW factor to take centre stage on my dining table. I love a huge Christmas tree to dominate the space and some carefully placed flashing lights are essential!

This year my daughter and I had a great time last Saturday making our home look very festive. We used a beautiful silver urn filled with magnolia branches and then added chains and chains of pearls from my own jewellery cupboard to really a touch of bling! And I absolutely love my table complete with my all time favourite accessory the LED Real Wax Candles which are amazing with how real they actually look but without all the messy wax spillage!

You can see from the photos they they look great in thae daytime but when they turn on at night they look simply stunning! And they even have timers on them that will allow you to choose when you would like your candles to come on each evening. I love walking in the door at night and the room is already bathed in candlelight!

When we decorate I am positive that it releases endorphins into our system that makes us so excited and rejunevated when we see the final results!

I can prove this by the fact that each and every time I leave a client’s home after a spot of fluffing the excitement and positive energy coming from off their bodies is palpable!!!!

What a nice way to feel …..

I have that warm and fuzzy feeling right now as I am sitting at my desk reading the most gorgeous letter from on of my recent clients. She has wrote me the kindest thank you note because she was so excited with the final results of her recent fluffing project we undertook together. She wrote about the reactions from her friends and family as she has showed them her beautiful new rooms. And that is the feedback and the reason that I enjoy this whole process so much! If I can change the way that people feel about their homes it can have such a positive flow on effect in all other areas of how they live their lives as well well… that gets me toasty warm inside!!

What a week ahead!!

This week is going to be very busy as I have two decorating seminars to hold within store. Ladies are now getting groups of friends together and booking their very own private seminar with me as a fun outing for them to do. It is so much fun having these private sessions and you can feel very comfortable in front of your friends to really ask whatever question comes into your mind and to let you hair down and learn the art of fluffing in a very relaxed environment! All you need is a minimum of ten friends to make your very own private lesson.

The second session is open to the public like always but bookings are essential, so if you are free this Saturday afternoon at 4pm why not give me a call on 686225 45 and book your place.

Through my work I am so lucky to have the opportunity to help lovely people bring their decorating dreams to life each and every day. And none more so enjoyable than the chance to help Helen and Mark make a change to the appearance of their home. Through an online consultation from photos supplied by Helen and a delivery of a few boxes of goodies to give an extra WOW factor to the space Helen and Mark have dramatically changed the look and flow to their home and the spaces within. And it was an absolute joy to talk Helen through the whole process of what items needed to be relocated or removed and how she needed to style and arrange the flowers and pieces that were sent to her from my store! I have been so impressed with the final photos she has sent to me displaying the finished product that Helen has kindly allowed me to show all of you so that you might also see how easy it can be to make a huge difference to your own home!!

However I can take no credit for how cute the gorgeous little girl on the lounge is.. but from the photos it looks like she was a very big help to her nanny!!
